Our team and culture

We have a diverse team of over 3,000 registered, enrolled and assistant nurses.

All our nurses meet the standards for practice set out by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

We base our care on the latest research to ensure good clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

Our strong culture of inquiry helps us discover new ways to improve our clinical practices and improve patient health.

Our commitment to lifelong learning

Our nurses work to improve the quality of their nursing and practice throughout their career. Many go on to postgraduate study and attain higher qualifications.

Whatever stage you’re at in your nursing career, we have opportunities for you to learn and develop your knowledge and skills.

These include:

• orientation for new and returning nurses
• workshops, in-service and networking for enrolled and assistant nurses
• ongoing professional development for all nurses
• preceptorship and leadership training.

Valuing our nurses and their work

We make sure our nurses know their value and the difference they’re making to the lives of Queenslanders. Each year we reward and recognise their contributions at our International Nurses Day ceremony, held during the week of 12 May.
